Looking for a home or other real estate outside Massachusetts?  For-sale-by-owner regional services exist throughout the US, Canada.

There are hundreds of websites advertising for sale by owner properties, however, most are plagued with outdated or non-existent listings.  This can be very frustrating for buyers.  Here are some easy ways to determine whether a website may be "hoarding" listings to make them appear more robust.

  1. Do they advertise "list until sold"?  If so, they're hoping the home seller forgets where they listed their property.
  2. Do sellers PAY to advertise or are listings free?  Free listing websites are generally lead generators for mortgage companies and real estate agents looking for YOU.  The listing is the BAIT.
  3. Can you find the website using search engines?  If not, chances are they probably are not very active and the listings are outdated.

We are members of FSBO Publishers Network, an organization of independent for-sale-by-owner experts in states and regions throughout the U.S.  As regional publishers, we tend to know our advertisers, keep better control over our listings and have no hidden agenda.
